Ingredients
  • 10 soft pitted Medjool dates
  • 2 Tbsp coconut nectar or agave syrup
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ⅔ cup chopped hazelnuts (can substitute pecans)
  • optional: ½ cup dried cranberries and/or diced apples
  • *This recipe can easily be doubled or tripled.
Instructions
  1. In a small saucepan, heat the dates, water, and syrup on medium-low heat, stirring often, until a thick, smooth paste forms. This takes roughly 10 minutes. Make sure to mash the dates as they heat up so that the mixture is evenly combined.
  2. Next, remove from the heat and mix in the cinnamon, chopped nuts, and optional fruit.
  3. Spoon into a small glass jar and chill until time to serve.
  4. Store leftovers in the refrigerator.
